Gates of Olympus Slot Review: RTP, Max Win and Where to Play in Canada

Gates of Olympus is Pragmatic Play’s Zeus slot and one of the most played online slots in the world. There are no paylines: 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on a 6×5 grid pay, winning symbols tumble away to make room for new ones, and Zeus throws multipliers of up to 500x onto the reels. This review explains how the game works, what the RTP and max win really mean, how it differs from Gates of Olympus 1000 and Super Scatter, and where Canadian players can play it.

How Gates of Olympus Works

You set your bet and spin a grid of 6 reels and 5 rows. Instead of paylines, the game uses pay anywhere: if 8 or more identical symbols land anywhere on the screen, they pay. Bigger clusters pay more — the top symbol, the crown, pays 10x your bet for 8–9 symbols and 50x for 12 or more.

1. Tumble. After a win, the winning symbols disappear and new ones fall into their place. This repeats as long as new wins appear, so one spin can pay several times.
2. Multipliers. Zeus can drop multiplier orbs worth 2x to 500x in the base game and in free spins. When the tumbling sequence ends, all multipliers on screen are added together and applied to the total win of that spin.
3. Scatters. Zeus scatters pay anywhere and trigger the free spins feature.

Free Spins and the Multiplier Total

Land 4 or more scatters to win 15 free spins. In the feature, every multiplier that lands in a winning tumble is added to a running total, and that total multiplies every later win in the round. Three or more scatters during free spins add 5 extra spins. This growing total is where the big wins come from — and why the game feels quiet between features.

Ante Bet and Buy Feature

Ante Bet raises your bet by 25% (bet ×1.25) and makes free spins more likely to trigger. With Ante Bet on, the max win drops to 4,000x of the higher stake. The Buy Feature starts free spins straight away for 100x your bet. Pragmatic lists the same 96.50% RTP for normal spins, Ante Bet and Buy, so neither option improves your long-term odds — they only change how fast you win or lose. Buy Feature is switched off at some casinos.

Paytable: Top Symbols

Payouts as multiples of your total bet, from the official demo. Wins are then boosted by any multipliers.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win

Pragmatic Play lists Gates of Olympus with a 96.50% RTP. RTP is a long-term average over millions of spins: it says nothing about your next session. Casinos can choose lower-RTP versions of Pragmatic games, so check the number in the game’s info panel at your casino before you play.

The game is highly volatile. Expect long stretches of small or no wins, with most of the value packed into rare free spins rounds. The max win is 5,000x your bet — according to Pragmatic’s own game data, about 1 in 700,000 spins reaches it, so treat it as a ceiling, not a target.

All Gates of Olympus Versions

The success of the original led to a whole series. The core is the same — 6×5 grid, tumbles, Zeus multipliers — but the multipliers, max win and extra features differ.

Default RTP from Pragmatic Play. 2500 and POP launched in autumn 2026; their RTP differs slightly between the official page and the demo, so check the info panel at your casino.

Gates of Olympus Demo

Pragmatic Play offers a free demo of every version with virtual credits — same rules, same multipliers, no deposit. It is the best way to see how often free spins land before you play for real money. See the Gates of Olympus demo page or open the official game page.

Is Gates of Olympus Legal in Canada?

Online gambling in Canada is regulated by each province. Ontario runs its own licensed market (iGaming Ontario) and Alberta opened its regulated market on July 13, 2026; in both provinces only locally licensed casinos may offer games, and Pragmatic Play games are offered there through them. That is why the offshore offers on this site are hidden for visitors from both provinces. Elsewhere in Canada, the provincial lottery site is the only locally run option, and many Canadians also play at international casinos licensed abroad. You must be 19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec).

Pros and Cons

Our Verdict

Gates of Olympus earned its popularity: rules you understand in one spin, tumbles that keep a round alive and Zeus multipliers that can turn a small win into a big one. It is also a high-volatility slot, so keep bets small relative to your budget and treat the free spins as a bonus, not a plan (our tips). Try the demo first, check the RTP at your casino, and play only at casinos that accept players from your province. If it stops being fun, help is free and confidential.
